JAVAN BONDS BIO

   On November 5th, 2023, Javan Bonds, Author of The Still Alive Series, an Amazon Best Selling Zombie Apocalypse series, passed away at 36. 

   Bonds had to overcome numerous obstacles to write and live his daily life. Diagnosed at age eleven with Friedrich's Ataxia (FA) (a progressively degenerative neuromuscular disease under the umbrella of Muscular Dystrophy ), he was slowly robbed of his physical abilities through the years. Bonds started using a wheelchair in 1999, but that was only the beginning of his setbacks. In 2010, his sight started diminishing to the point that he was legally blind. Because of his deteriorating hearing, he couldn't pick up individual voices in a noisy room.

Despite all this, he continued to work tirelessly... seven days a week, on his writing. Bonds, never letting his disability rule him. He loved and laughed often. Reading and writing provided Bonds with both pleasure and a creative outlet. In 2010, he discovered a passion for writing novels. With the help of Nuance's Dragon Naturally Speaking, he continued to write daily.

   In late 2015, at only 28 years old, Bonds was told that due to the ravages of FA on his heart, he might only have six months to two years left. After learning that, he went all in, and by mid-2016, he published his first dystopian novel, Free State Of Dodge, about an America in decline and its rebirth.

   But something amazing happened along the way.

   Given his drive and determination to write and promote every day, his health began to improve. Of course, he hadn't found a cure for the genetic disorder that ravaged his body, but he found a second wind that gave him new energy and direction in his life. As his health improved, his cardiologist told him that the window of time he had been given to live was now much longer than previously predicted. He never looked back. He began to work hard to complete as many novels as possible before his time in this world ran out.

After Bonds' first novel, which he later remastered as Blood Of Tyrants: Book One of the Free State of Dodge series, he began his Zombie series.

The Still Alive series follows a group of unlikely survivors in a zombie apocalypse trapped in an Alabama lake town as they try to keep their wits about them. Making a new life in a world overrun by naked, blue-skinned, yellow-eyed, nocturnal zombies that spew vile shit everywhere is hard. Not only are these former humans attempting to bite or devour every last morsel of flesh on any of the uninfected, but they are also becoming increasingly more intelligent and sadistic. Add to that a few crazy dictators, gun-toting preppers, rouge military leaders, religious fanatics, and cannibals! Fun times! Think WW-Z, Zombieland, and Shaun Of The Dead, only better.

   Javan's publisher and editor hope you enjoy the Still Alive series, filled with humor, pop culture references, and excessive zombie-killing action. Oh, and there is a pirate ship, too. Javan had planned on writing many more installments in his Still Alive series and had written many yet-to-be-published stories in the Still Alive Series. His Father, J. R. Bonds, will continue Javan's series using the extensive body of work left behind by Javan. 

 

 

Javan had these words of wisdom to offer to others stricken by a life-shortening illness.

"Live your life. Light your candle on both ends and let it burn. It may go out faster, but it will be brighter than some who live much longer."
